Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, hit the theatres today, February 14. Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a period drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Vineet Kumar Singh, Divya Dutta, Diana Penty, and Santosh Juvekar among others.

Chhaava has opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, it has been raved for the stellar performances, especially Vicky Kaushal has been praised for his portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj. They have called it his 'career-best' performance so far.

In the match against the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Belgium, India's Abhishek scored the consolation goal in the 55th minute. Felix Denayer (22’), Alexander Hendrickx (34’, 60’) and Cedric Charlier (49’) scored for the hosts.

Trade experts have predicted a tremendous opening for Chhaava. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava sold almost 5 lakh tickets across India in advance booking for its opening day. It earned Rs 13.79 crore gross in advance booking, which is one of the highest in Bollywood in recent times.
